History of the Faculty of Theology - دانشکده الهیات و معارف اسلامی
Before the establishment of the Faculty of Theology and Islamic Studies in Jundishapur University, the Center for Islamic Studies was established, which dates back almost two years before the victory of the Glorious Islamic Revolution. The person in charge of this center was the late Seyyed Reza Dibaji. A year later, the officials of Jundishapur University thought of establishing a theology school, and for this purpose, they invited educated people from Isfahan, Abadan, Ahwaz and Arak to cooperate as faculty members. The faculty was entrusted to the late Seyyed Reza Dibaji, and it was closed with the establishment of the Faculty of Theology, Center of Islamic Studies.
In October 1357, about four and a half months before the victory of the Islamic Revolution, the first round of semi-centralized student admission was completed in this faculty. At that time, the faculty was located in the Student Vice-Chancellor, and its educational and research facilities consisted of two rooms and a basement.
After the victory of the revolution, the department of Arabic language and literature, which was one of the departments of the faculty of literature and humanities, was transferred to the faculty of theology, and in 1362, a permission in principle to continue the educational-research activities of the faculty was issued to the faculty by the then Ministry of Science. . In those days, the Faculty of Theology included the teaching groups of Arabic language and literature, theology department and free theology.
The educational activities of the Faculty of Theology, like other academic centers, were temporarily closed during the Cultural Revolution.
With the beginning of the imposed war and the participation of the combatant students in the war, the Faculty of Theology dedicated its first student martyr, the late Martyr Habib Sharifi Rad, to Islam and the Islamic Revolution, and after this martyr, a number of other combatant students of this college attained the degree of martyrdom, and in 1995 Mehdi Ishaqian joined the martyrs who defended the shrine.
After the reopening of the university, the faculty of theology resumed its educational and research activities and despite the war in the region, relying on the Almighty God, it was able to deliver undergraduate graduates to the Islamic society, some of whom now have Ph.D. degrees. They are working as faculty members in this faculty and a large number of them are working in other universities or in teaching-research and executive positions.
